Facebook Introduces New Way for Creators to Monetise Stories

Meta Introduces Story Monetisation for Facebook Creators

Meta has unveiled a new monetisation feature for Facebook, allowing eligible creators to earn money from public story views, the company announced.

The feature is available to creators already enrolled in Facebook’s content monetisation programme and enables them to generate income from content they have previously shared. For example, a cooking tutorial or reel reshared as a story can now contribute to earnings. Additionally, everyday content posted as stories can also be monetised.

Unlike traditional ad-based revenue models, earnings will be based on content performance rather than a fixed view count, according to a Meta spokesperson. The initiative aims to incentivise content creation and boost engagement on Facebook.

Eligible creators will automatically gain access to the new monetisation option without additional steps. Meta, which launched its content monetisation programme last year, plans to expand access later this year. Those not currently enrolled can express interest via Facebook’s monetisation website.
